I was under the impression that fat loss leads to weight loss or vice versa but it seems both are different. Can anyone explain the difference

I’m just curious if someone could explain how calories in and out determines fat loss or fat gain.
calories are units of energy. 3500 calories in is one pound gained and 3500 cals lost is a pound lost. If you dont expend what you take in in calories you receive a net gain, hence wt gain. [...]
